When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he find it attached to the rest of the world. -John Muir

Our new school year is well underway! All of the classes in our morning program have had an opportunity to spend time in the Garden Classroom exploring, creating and discovering new opportunities for learning. The returning children discovered a favorite activity – with a twist! The building area benefited from my recent camping trip where I discovered, and somehow manage to cram into my little Toyota, a long twisty, arching oak log to challenge our many talented builders. I also added some tree stumps I scored from my local nursery.  I will also be adding some granite and other rocks as a way to enhance their building and hopefully help the children see new possibilities for play in the natural world all around them. As countless children before them, a stick or a stone is the perfect toy and can be found anywhere. These materials provide endless hours of play. More importantly, these children will grow up to appreciate our natural world and will do what they can to preserve it for countless children to come.
